Innolux to build new factory plants in Hsinchu and Tainan; will use robotics and automation


Taiwan based Innolux Corporation, the world's fourth-largest flat-panel maker, has received the approval to invest NT$70.1 billion in Taiwan. It is under a seperate government plan that encourage overseas Taiwanese businesses to invest back in Taiwan.


The company plans to build brand new manufacturing facilities in Hsinchu City and Tainan. The Miali-based company will overhaul its manufacturing processes by using artificial intelligence (AI) with the goal of automation and robotics in most of its production lines.

Innolux plans to move some production back to Taiwan from China and build a new television assembly line in Tainan, according to the InvesTaiwan Service Center.

Recently, Innolux Corporation posted a deep quarterly losses for last quarter due to seasonal improvement drags TV panel shipments and prices. The company already spent NT$20.3 billion on its new facilities and equipment this year.
