Chinese parent abandoned their children at airport and flew away amid virus outbreak

The epidemic virus continues to spread, and so far, there have been more than 600 cases in China, with 17 deaths. Officials used thermal detectors to scan for potential fevers.

A netizen posted on Weibo (January 23), stating that he witnessed a pair of parents and a pair of children preparing to fly to Changsha on Nanjing Lukou International Airport, but one of them had a fever and failed to board the flight, UDN reported.

Immediately, their parents clamored for the airport, causing other passengers to change two departure gates. The flight was delayed by nearly 3 hours, and the police failed to mediate.

In the end, the parents boarded the flight and left leaving two children to stay at the airport, which was temporarily supervised by airport staff. The ground crew had no choice but to take care of the kids.

According to the WHO, signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
