Taiwan on high alert after mysterious pneumonia outbreak in China, sparks SARS fears


Taiwan is on high alert and implementation of  strict screening measures have been in the wake of the 27 cases of atypical pneumonia yhat came from Wuhan in China, reported by Taiwan News.


The pneumonia is believed to have been caused by an unidentified viral strain. This issue reignites a public health scare, likening the situation to the lethal SARS epidemic of 2002-2003.

At least 27 pneumonia cases have been confirmed in Wuhan, with patients developing fever and difficulty breathing and showing evidence of pulmonary infiltrates.

All of the patients affected have been quarantined, and a medical task force has been put together to investigate the cause of the viral infections, the report added, China Business Network reported.


Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in China was enforced to closure where most of the patients have been identified as local residents doing business in the said market.
