DOLE asks DOH to lift the travel ban on Taiwan for the sake of the OFWs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has requested the Department of Health (DOH) to reconsider its decision on the travel ban for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Taiwan.

“We are seeking understanding from our OFWs because the implementation of a temporary ban by the DOH is for your own safety as well," Bello said.

"We hope for a possible lifting of the ban in a few days,” he added.

Bello said he was certain that the result of the assessment would be favorable to the migrant Filipinos. He asked affected OFWs to wait for developments in the next three to five days.

Meanwhile, the Pilipino Manpower Agencies Accredited to Taiwan (PILMAT) argued that Taiwan is considered by the United Nations as an independent nation. It also said the Philippines even has trade relations with Taiwan through the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO).
