Taiwan and Philippines agreed to allow OFWs to be employed at agriculture and farming sector

Taiwan and Philippines have agreed to allow Filipino workers to take up employment in Taiwan's agricultural sector after reviewing sample employment contracts provided by Taiwan's labor ministry.

Taiwan is expanding the number of migrant workers local farm operators can hire on a trial basis this year, Central News Agency reported.

This will allow the migrant workers to work in different areas of the agriculture sector according to the Council of Agriculture (COA) of Taiwan.

Agriculture sectors includes dairy farming, such as land-based aquaculture and animal husbandry -- poultry, hogs and cattle, specific areas of farming, including orchid, edible mushroom and vegetable cultivation, according to the COA.

Taiwan will allow a total 2,400 agriculture workers for this year coming from Philippines, Thailand and currently have talks to Indonesia and Vietnam.
