Taiwan confirmed its first asymptomatic patient of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 18, Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said on Sunday.

Asymptomatic means there are no symptoms. You are considered asymptomatic if you have an illness or condition but do not have symptoms of it.

The latest case is that of a man in his 20s, another son of a couple who were diagnosed with 2019-nCoV. He will be the 4th member of their family to be testes positive with the virus.

The latest confirmed patient is the country's first to be infected with the virus who has not shown any symptoms, reported by Central News Agency.

CECC always advised people to wash their hands frequently with soap and water and to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth. They also said the use of face masks by healthy people is not necessary.
