Taiwan's Innolux and AUO could benefit from the virus outbreak as China shipments drops

Taiwan-based pane makers AU Optronics (AUO) and Innolux could benefit amid uncertainty caused by the coronavirus outbreak according to technology industry sources.

Clients may shift their orders to Taiwan's Innolux and AUO as panel production at some LCD fabs in China may be disrupted due to transport curbs affecting supply of needed materials.

The shift of panel orders may not much impact total demand for driver ICs as Taiwan-based driver IC suppliers such as Novatek Microelectronics have been the primary suppliers for such products, Digitimes reported.

Demand for foundry services may drop significantly if the epidemic prolongs, sending consumer demand for end-market devices crashing.
