Tzu Chi Foundation has bought nine tons of medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE), worth millions of pesos, for local hospitals to help frontliners against the COVID-19 pandemic.
After weeks of sourcing, comparing prices & availability of medical supplies, for the Philippine hospitals and other medical centers, the TzuChi Foundation’s first shipment of PPE finally arrived in Manila on April 8 courtesy of Cebu Pacific Airlines.
Yesterday, April 12, the foundation started distributing the nine tons medical supplies among hospitals in Metro Manila, Angeles City, Cebu, Davao, Tacloban, Bohol, and Zamboanga City.
It had also handed out PPE last April 11 to the first batch of private and public hospitals including UP-PGH, Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Metropolitan Hospital, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Manila Doctors Hospital and the East Avenue Medical Center.
The Tzu Chi Foundation was founded by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in 1966. It is a non-government organization (NGO) with special consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). Tzu Chi currently has 62 chapters all over the world involved in humanitarian work in over 100 countries. Tzu Chi Foundation's “Four Major Missions” consist of Charity, Medicine, Education, and Humanity.

ReplyDeleteIt is good to know. Front-liners are directly exposed to the virus. They needed proper protective isolation gown and other covers also, then they can provide the treatment and other services.
