DSWD recently give 827 centenarians a cash gift of P100K each

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced on Tuesday, June 29, that 827 centenarians had each received a P100,000 incentive, as required under the Centenarians Act of 2016.

According the DSWD data from May 2021, it has serviced 827 centenarians out of 1,319 target beneficiaries this year, with P82.7 million already given.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported that the field offices in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) and X (Northern Mindanao) have “already completed the distribution” of the centenarian incentive to their target beneficiaries, which totaled 135 and 25, respectively.

In recognition of their contributions to nation development, the DSWD continues to offer the P100,000 incentive stipulated by Republic Act (RA) 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.

“Aside from the centenarian incentive, Filipinos who reach 100 years old and above, whether residing in the country or abroad, shall be honored with a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines congratulating them on their longevity,” according to the DSWD.

According to the DSWD, families of centenarians must submit primary papers such as birth certificates and Philippine passports to the city or municipal social welfare office and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) in their communities in order to receive benefits under the law.

Any of the major Identification Cards issued by OSCA, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), and Social Security System (SSS); driver's license; Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) license; and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Voter's ID are also acceptable.

The DSWD is delivering the centenarian incentive through a house-to-house distribution method as part of its efforts to protect the recipients' health and safety, particularly during the epidemic.
