DOH Warns The Public Not Buy And Consume Cracked Eggs

Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) warned the public not to buy and consume eggs which are already cracked as these eggs are prone to bacteria. These cracked eggs mostly sold on a more cheap price than the intact and not cracked eggs.

According to DOH spokesperson Eric Domingo, these cracked eggs are prone from bacterial formation like Salmonella and Staphylococcus which are the common cause of food poisoning.

Some food stalls most likely to buy the cracked eggs due to lower price which can be served to its customers. DOH said that cooking may kill the bacteria of the contaminated eggs but the toxins may still linger and may cause food poisoning.

These toxins when ingested can irritate a human’s intestinal system that can lead to vomiting and diarrhea, according to DOH spokesperson.

Consumers must inspect the eggs properly before busying to make sure that anyone will not be exposed to food-borne illness. Refrigeration and proper cooking is also a good way to kill bacteria from eggs. (Photo: Businessmirror)
