The jackpots offered by three national lotteries will be increased by a total NT$860 million (US$30.69 million) during the Lunar New Year festival in February, Taiwan Lottery Corp. said Tuesday.

Speaking at a press event, Taiwan Lottery General Manager Tsai Kuo-chi said the jackpot will be increased for the Grand Lottery, Super Lotto and Bingo Bingo.

Draws for the Grand Lottery will be held for 13 consecutive days from Feb. 9 to Feb. 21, instead of the usual Tuesdays and Thursdays, Tsai said.

Also, an additional 360 prizes of NT$1 million each will be added to the Grand Lottery from Feb. 9 to Feb. 13 through extra draws, he said.

Meanwhile, the general manager said the company will also increase the cash prizes in its Bingo Bingo game for 16 consecutive days, starting Feb. 1.

As for the Super Lotto, which is played every Mondays and Thursdays, an additional NT$200 million will be added to each jackpot from Feb. 1 to April 1 if the total does not reach NT$300 million for any given draw, according to Taiwan Lottery.

Also Tuesday, the company unveiled six new scratch card lotteries, including one that sells cards for NT$1,000 each.
