The Malaybalay City Council passed a Golden Wedding Ordinance that provides a PHP50,000 incentive for couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Based on the ordinance, the marriage of a couple to qualify for the PHP50,000 incentive must be valid and registered in the local City Civil Registry.
Couples who have been permanent residents of Malaybalay City for six years are also qualified for the incentive.
An individual whose spouse works elsewhere and has less than six years of residency can be covered by the incentive if he has been a resident of the city for six years by the time of their golden wedding anniversary.
Married couples who have separated, even if their separation is not yet legal, are no longer qualified.
The Office of the Senior Citizens' Affairs and the City Mayor's Office will issue the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the said ordinance.
City Councilor Niko Aldeguer announced this in a post on his official Facebook Page:
Translation: “Bihira lang sa mag-asawa ang umaabot sa 50 taon nang kasal. Ito ay bilang pagkilala sa kanila para sa kanilang kontribusyon sa komunidad, dahil ang matatag na pamilya ang pundasyon ng ating lipunan.
“Higit sa lahat, pinahahalagahan natin ang ating mga lolo at lola sa kanilang sinumpaang sakramento.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa aking kapwa konsehal at isa sa may-akda ng ordinansa na si Konsehal Louel Tortola, at sa lahat ng miyembro ng Sangguniang Panlungsod
“Sa Malaybalay, may forever.”
