Taiwan Expected To Extend Visa-Free Treatment For Pinoys until July 2020


The visa free entry of Filipinos is expected to be extended until July 31, 2020. According to Chang Ching-sen, Minister without Portfolio that the Executive Yuan’s stance of Taiwan to approve the extension.

Visitors are allowed with a 14 day stay in Taiwan. The free entry to Taiwan have boosted the tourism significantly with Filipinos increased to enter up with additional 12.46 %.

This is now the third time that the visa free entry for Filipinos will have an extension. The arrival of Filipino visitors in Taiwan have been abundant since it started three years ago. Filipino as tourists and even visiting their relatives in Taiwan as OFW ranks third in terms of number of migrant workers living in Taiwan.

The visa free entry is under the Southbound policy which focused more on the relationship of Taiwan to other countries specially from Southeast Asia. Aside from Philippines, Thailand, Brunei and Russia also extended the visa-free entry.

Filipinos visiting Taiwan favorite spots is the iconic Taipei 101, youth shopping district Ximending, neighboring spots Taipei Zoo and Maokong Gondola with increasing numbers visiting Taichung and Kaohsiung.
