44 drivers in Kaohsiung face health risk after transporting passengers from a virus-hit cruise ship

Kaohsiung's Transportation Bureau said it has provided the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) list of drivers who transported passengers from the MS Westerdam cruise ship that later have a confirmed case COVID-19.

The list include 34 taxi drivers and 10 bus drivers who had transported the cruise ship passengers around southern Taiwan on Feb. 4.

All the drivers will be required to do health checks and conduct "self-health management."

The MS Westerdam was docked for four and a half hours at Kaohsiung Port on Feb 4, and some of the passengers visited several sites in the south of the country, according to CECC.

The city's department of health has also identified another 171 persons who came into close contact with the cruise ship passengers that day and will also be required to do "self-health management."
