Seasonal flu patients in Taiwan declines, total of 99 deaths recorded in a 5 month span


Taiwan and the rest of the world continue to battle the novel coronavirus or COVID-19, the seasonal influenza in Taiwan raised its death toll to 99 since October 2019 according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC).


The seasonal flu claimed 9 lives in Taiwan in a week (3rd week of February) including a 29-year-old woman who died 10 days after her infection, Taiwan News reported.

The youngest patient was a 29-year-old woman who had suffered from diabetes and hypertension before having flu and the woman have not recieved a flu vaccine.

A total of 52,135people sought medical treatment for flu-like symptoms at hospitals and clinics around the country according to CDC Epidemic Intelligence Center.


The drastic change of temperature in Taiwan causes the flu, the total number of patients have declined due to weakening of cold weather. Doctors advised to watch proper hygiene.
