Pinay OFW test positive of COVID-19 upon arrival in Taiwan, 10 migrant workers in close contact


Taiwan announced one new imported COVID-19 coming from a overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who just arrived in the country, confirmed by Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Monday (Sept. 14).


Case No. 499 is a Filipina OFW in her 20s who arrived in Taiwan on Sept. 10 on a work visa, CECC Spokesman Chuang Jen-hsiang announced.

The Filipina is aymptomatic when she arrived in Taiwan. Close contact are 10 migrant workers who were preparing to travel to Taiwan for work as CECC prepare its immigration regarding ita close contact.

Meanwhile, 17 people who came in contact with the woman, including 12 passengers who sat in the rows directly in front and behind her during the flight to Taiwan.

Taiwan now has a total of 499 confirmed cases where 407 were imported, 55 were local transmission and 36 came from the Navy's with one was the undetermined case of a Belgian national.
