Cold surge grips Taiwan to 5°C as cold warning advisory raised to 20 cities and counties


The Weather Central Bureau stated that this wave of cold surge reached its strongest coupled with the radiant cooling effect that see 20 cities and counties inder orange and yellow warning.


The temperature was only 8-11 degrees in north and northeast Taiwan and open areas, mountainous area can go further down to 5-6 degrees.

Orange warning (very cold)
New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County and Yilan County

Yellow warning (cold)
Keelung City, Taipei City, Hsinchu City, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Hualien County, Taitung County, Kinmen County


The cold current will continue to affect Taiwan until early morning of Wednesday, but it will not be colder than the early morning From Wednesday onwards, the temperature will return to 20 degrees and above.
