Dubai, Burj Khalifa's ‘Stay Home’ message alerts residents to self-isolation

On Monday night, March 23, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper, lit up with a message ‘Stay Home” to urge its residents to stay home as the whole world battles the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The campaign is said to be becoming effective as residents voluntarily abandon non-essential travel to stay in their homes to help prevent the spread of the virus.

They are practising social distancing and avoiding restaurants and malls, Parks, beaches and other leisure destinations were temporarily shut by the government.

On Monday, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, issued a strong message to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and said, “urgently recognize the seriousness of the new reality we live in.”

“The only way to guarantee that we safeguard the wellbeing of our loved ones is to ACT now, TOGETHER and WITHOUT exceptions. Stay Home. Social Distancing is NOT a matter of choice. it is a critical DEMAND from every one of us, in order for our city and our society to remain safe,” he wrote on Twitter.
