Taiwan asking people to avoid public gatherings over 1,000 people due to coronavirus


Taiwan government is asking the general public to avoid public gatherings having 1,000 people to avoid spreading of coronavirus on the country.


Public assemblies which are indoor or outdoor should be avoided if they expect to host more than 1,000 attendees according to Taiwan Interior Minister Hsu Kuo-yung, Taiwan News reported.

The minister also said that in a small gathering, people must use face masks and should keep themselves at least one meter away from others. This is one measure to avoid the spread of the virus.

The public have expressed concern over illegal migrant workers in Taiwan who go under the radar of the authorities and might have a negative impact on disease prevention work of the country.

According to the CECC, COVID-19 confirmed cases in Taiwan now at 42, one Taiwanese has died of the virus, while 12 others have been discharged from hospitals following mandatory medical quarantines.
