Taiwan bans all foreign nationals entering the country starting 3/19


Taiwan already reported 77 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Recently, many have been diagnosed after traveling abroad to return to Taiwan, resulting in a surge in cases of coronavirus.  

In response, commander of the Central Epidemic Command Center, announced today (Mar 18) that from 3/19 , foreign nationals will be banned from entering the country and Taiwanese citizens will have to quarantine at home for 14 days.

Minister of Foreign Affairs said that all non-nationals are restricted to enter Taiwan, except for those holding residence permits, diplomatic official certificates, business certificates or other authorized persons.

The implementation time will be from 00:00 on March 19, Taiwan time. For those who are abroad, it will be applied from the time after the local departure on the 19th.


Although foreigners are temporarily suspended from entering the country, the necessary commercial and diplomatic actions can still be released, but as long as they enter Taiwan, they will be quarantined at home for 14 days.
