Doctor and nurse test positive of COVID-19 from a Taiwan hospital, listed 464 close contacts


A hospital in the northern Taiwan suspended the admission of patients yesterday (Jan 11) and perform mass evacuation.  The command center confirmed 2 new confirmed cases on Jan 12 which are one doctor and one nurse.


The command center stated that case 838 was a doctor from the hospital and had taken care of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Since January 8, cough and fever have appeared one after another. They sought medical examination on January 10 and tested positive on the 11th. 


Meanwhile case 839 is a close contact of case 838 but has not contacted or cared for the confirmed case of COVID-19.


In response to this incident, the command center has listed a total of 464 hospital contacts, all of whom have been tested. There are 56 community contacts, of which 14 have been tested, and 1 is positive (Case 839), 42 people are still undergoing inspection.
