Migrant workers temporarily banned from entering Taiwan due to surging COVID-19 cases


Migrant workers are banned from entering Taiwan as the country fights surging local cases of COVID-19, elaborated by Ministry of Labor (MOL) due to border control measure.


Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said that non-resident foreigners will be denied entry which started last May 19. Border control includes migrant workers.


Employers automatically puts three-month extension for their six-month permits of migrant workers, if the permit expires on any date between May 19 and June 30.


Taiwan has introduced 7,249 laborers over the past month according to MOL statistics.
