Overseas Filipino Workers must secure their membership identification numbers online according to a joint resolution the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and Pag-IBIG Fund.
All OFWs are now required to immediately submit Pag-IBIG Membership Identification (MID) numbers and pay their monthly contribution, according to POEA.
"The POEA shall now require all OFWs and aspiring OFWs to provide and encode their Pag-IBIG Member ID number [Pag-IBIG MID] in their e-Registration System account," POEA and Pag-IBIG said.
The Pag-IBIG contribution will now be done during processing of the overseas employment certificate (OEC).
Before departure, OFWs are mandated to secure an OEC or exit clearance from the POEA.
Recruitment agencies are also reminded to comply with the new policy which aims to further improve the lives of Filipinos abroad.
