Pinay domestic worker in Dubai, UAE died due to undetermined type of 'coronavirus'


A 58-year old Filipina domestic worker died due to "coronavirus" in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on Feb 2 according to Sam Nielsen's report on Super Radyo dzBB.


The report is citing Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III where the secretary saying the death of the Filipina workers only indicates "coronavirus."

However, it was not clear if the Filipina worker died of the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) or the new type novel coronavirus (nCoV) that originated in Wuhan, China.


Bello said the Filipina was from General Santos City and working in Dubai for 28 years.

The Philippine government is now working on having the Filipina's sister and children sent to Dubai where her body will be cremated.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause infections ranging from the common cold to more severe illnesses.
