3rd patient listed to be positive of coronavirus in Taiwan after recent travel to Philippines


Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 23 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan, one of the new cases came from the Philippines.


This is the third time that a patient came positive with coronavirus after a recent visit to the Philippines which the country is now under enhanced community quarantine.

The 21 out of 23 had recent travel overseas where four of them were members of a group that visited Turkey.

The other 17 showed symptoms of infection between Feb. 14 and March 16 during and after traveling to Spain (3), the U.S. (3), the United Kingdom (2), France (2), and Indonesia, Qatar, the Philippines, Switzerland, and Germany (one each).

As of March 18, 71 of the 100 confirmed cases in Taiwan have been classified as imported, the CECC said.

Globally, over 193,748 COVID-19 cases and at least 7,086 deaths had been reported in 145 countries/territories worldwide, according to the CECC.
