PH records 45 new COVID-19 recoveries, total cases at 4,932 with 284 new infections


The Department of Health on Monday (April 13) reported 242 COVID-19 recoveries as country total reached 4, 932 after noting 284 newly infected individuals.


As of 4pm today, there were 45 people who have recovered from the disease and only 18 individuals who have died bringing the death toll to 315.

Earlier, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that it could take about six to 18 months before a vaccine against the new coronavirus can be developed and distributed to the public.

So as an effort, the DOH will procure test kits good for the next three months, according to Vergeire. It has earlier projected that it will be able to conduct 3,000 COVID-19 tests per day starting April 14. The capacity to test is expected to reach 8,000 to 10,000 daily by the end of the month.
