Train diver and 3 passengers injured after local commuter train hits a truck in Kaohsiung


A commuter train was damaged after hitting a stalled truck at a railway road crossing in Kaohsiung. The train driver and three passengers suffered injuries according to railway police, CNA reported.


Injured people were taken immediately to the hospital after a collision occurred at 1:13 pm on a level crossing near the Nandong cement factory between XinZuoying and Nanzi Stations in Kaohsiung.

The local train commuter service #3198 suffered serious impact damage to the front cabin and was derailed. An estimate of more than 5,000 passengers have been affected by delay to clear the railways.

The driver of the truck told that his semitrailer stuck on the level crossing while going to the cement factory, he was able to jumped out of the trick but unable to reach the emergency warning of the train.

The driver is being investigated on suspicion of causing public danger.
