US President Donald Trump announces restrictions and halting on U.S. funding for the World Health Organization over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The current administration and conservative allies have ramped up their criticism that the United Nations agency catered to China early in the outbreak and jeopardized global health.
“They are very, very China-centric, China always seems to get the better of the argument, and I don’t like that, I really don’t like that. I don’t think that’s appropriate. I don’t think it’s fair to the American people," Trump said
Trump repeated criticism of the WHO but gave no specifics about any planned funding cuts or the review process involved.
The United States is the largest donor of WHO and has committed to provide the agency with $893million during its current two-year funding period, now comes to a halt.
