Migrant workers in Taiwan arrested for illegal possession of firearms and weapons


A Vietnamese migrant worker and other its other partners of their gang were arrested in Tawan’s Taoyuan for illegal possession of firearms or weapons according to police, CNA reported.


The Vietnamese was identified by his surname Nguyen together with another co-Vietnamese and a Taiwanese were arrested by  Taoyuan police Sub-Station.

The group were about to exact revenge on other group of Vietnamese workers in the area due to an ongoing dispute.

Based on the information given to the police, authorities intercepted two cars which the groups splits into two groups. Police found a stash of illegal firearms and several Japanese swords in their vehicle.

Nguyen and another Vietnamese suspect were arrested at a home in Taoyuan, where two modified long-barreled guns, a handgun, 23 shotgun shells and a handgun bullet were found and seized, according to the police.

All people who were arrested May 6 have been handed over to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office for further investigation, on charges of violating the Controlling Guns, Ammunition and Knives Act. (CNA Photo)
