Taiwan plans to offer employers with NT$1,000 per migrant for quarantine relocation

Taiwan's Ministry of Labor (MOL) will offer subsidies to employers of migrant workers so they can reduce the number of people in worker dormitories.

MOL is planning to offer a one-time subsidy of NT$1,000 per migrant worker to employers to fund the relocation to quarantine accommodations said Deputy Labor Minister Wang An-pang said at a Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) press briefing.

The plan came after hundreds of migrant workers in Miaoli County from diffent companies came positive with COVID-19.

It is available to all employers with migrant worker dormitories though the exact amount of the subsidy has yet to be finalized and still in talks with the local government.

Taiwan identified the migrant dormitories as a virus hotspot where almost a dozen of them share in one room.
