Good news for Filipino travelers!
The Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has officially announced the extension of its 14-day visa-free entry program for Philippine passport holders for another year, allowing Filipinos to continue visiting Taiwan without a visa from August 1, 2026 until July 31, 2027.
According to the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA), the decision was made after the government reviewed the positive results of the visa-free program over the past several years. Taiwan said the extension is part of its efforts to strengthen tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and closer relations with the Philippines.
Under the program, Filipino nationals holding an ordinary Philippine passport may enter Taiwan without a visa and stay for up to 14 days.
Visa-Free Entry Requirements
Filipinos planning to visit Taiwan under the visa-free program must meet the following requirements:
* Hold a Philippine passport with at least six (6) months validity from the date of entry.
* Present a confirmed return or onward ticket.
* Have proof of accommodation or contact information in Taiwan.
* Show sufficient financial capacity for the duration of the stay, if requested by immigration authorities.
The 14-day visa-free stay cannot be extended or converted into another type of visa while in Taiwan.
Program Continues for Another Year
The visa-free privilege for Filipinos was first introduced in November 2017 as a trial program. Since then, Taiwan has extended the policy almost every year due to its positive impact on tourism and bilateral relations.
With this latest announcement, Filipino travelers can continue enjoying visa-free visits to Taiwan until July 31, 2027, making it easier and more affordable to explore the country for tourism, family visits, and short business trips.
Taiwan also announced that the one-year extension covers nationals of Thailand and Brunei under the same trial program.
Travelers are advised to review the latest immigration requirements before departure, as entry remains subject to inspection by Taiwan immigration authorities.
