Taiwanese bio-scientists optimistic on the study of “cure” for obesity

The Taiwanese bio-scientists in one of Taiwan’s top research institute are being positive about a study they are currently conducting which is a “cure” for diet-induced obesity.

According to the leading bio-scientist on the Academia Sinica, their experiments showed that the elimination of a specific gene could contribute to better metabolic function.

The bio-scientists are referring to a gene called N-α-acetyltransferase 10 protein (Naa10p) which relates to obesity. If this gene is withdrawn, more beige adipocytes would develop and in turn would help deplete unwanted calories.

Their experiment is done on a mice and according to them if this applied to humans, it could be the “cure” for diet-induced obesity.

Diet-induced obesity crucially increases the risk of numerous life-threatening diseases like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and strokes.
