Taiwan's first case for 2020 of imported dengue confirmed by health bureau in Tainan


Tainan confirmed and reported its first case of the year 2020 of imported dengue fever, the patient is female on his 20s that came from a  vacation in Indonesia, according tothe city's Public Health Bureau.


The woman who visited the Southeast Asian was found to have been infected with the dengue virus type 4 (DENV-4) strain and is still being treated for the illness, reported by CNA.

Initially, the first diagnosis was influenza but when her symptoms failed to improve, the woman decided to seek medical attention at another hospital that turns out to be dengue.

Dengue fever is an infection caused by dengue viruses, of which there are four different serotypes known to infect humans.


Prevention includes protect yourself from mosquito bites at all times. Prevent access of mosquitoes to an infected person with a fever. Always keep the sorrounding environment clean.

The area around the woman's residence in Xiaying District, including places she visited in Tainan's Anding District on the day she developed the fever, have since been disinfected.
