Total of 12 coronavirus patients discharged in Taiwan hospitals, recovered and tests negative

Taiwan released a total of 12 patients diagnosed with novel coronavirus COVID-19 from hospitals in Taiwan after recovering and testing negative with the virus, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The bar for releasing an infected person from quarantine has been set higher at three negative tests instead of just two to reduce the possibility of a recurrence, said Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung.

As of Friday (Mar 6), 45 tested positive with coronavirus in Taiwan which spike the number up due to cluster cases.

The remaining patients are still in hospital quarantine under treatment while others are already in stable condition, the CECC said.

Taiwan reported its first death from COVID-19 on Feb. 15 when a taxi driver in his 60s tested positive. The driver is believed to have been exposed carrying a passenger returning from China in late January.
