Coronavirus exceeds 1-million cases globally


More than 1 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 disease have now been reported worldwide as the death toll exceeded 51,000.


The coronavirus has spread to 181 countries and regions, sickened 1,001,079 and killed 51,385, according to tracking numbers from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States, Italy and Spain have each overtaken China both in terms of the total number of confirmed cases and total deaths in each country.

At least one-third of the world is under some type of lockdown due to the pandemic. However, there were about 208,000 patients recovered from the disease.

On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic.


To protect against the spread of COVID-19, people are encouraged to practice social distancing and to thoroughly wash their hands.
