Returning OFWs no need for 14-day quarantine if COVID-19 swab test result is negative

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has released new guideline for returning overseas Filipino workers (OFW).

In the new guideline, OFWs may not complete the 14-day quarantine if the swab test result turns out to be negative. Check 4 steps below released by OWWA:

STEP 1:
-Arriving OFWS will immediately have swab test at the airport.

-This is administered by Philippine Red Cross and Philippine Coast Guard.

-While waiting for the swab test results at quarantine facilities, OWWA will continuously provide accommodation and food assistance.

STEP 2:
-Swab test results will be released by the Philippine Red Cross. Philippine Red Cross submits results to Bureau of Quarantine.

-This is will take approximately 3-5 days. If tested negative, they are allowed to go home.

-If tested positive, they are endorsed/referred to hospitals.

-If cleared, Bureau of Quarantine issues individual certificates. Department of Interior & Local Government coordinates with home Local Government Unit.

STEP 3:
-Transportation assistance will be provided by the Department of Transportation.

-OWWA will shoulder costs for mercy flights and voyages to Visayas and Mindanao

STEP 4: Home Sweet Home
