More than 75% of Taiwanese unwilling to take Chinese COVID-19 vaccine: survey

More than 75 percent of Taiwanese that were  surveyed said they would refuse to take any COVID-19 vaccines developed by Chinese companies.

Only 24.9 percent of the respondents were open to the import of Chinese coronavirus vaccines to Taiwan, according to the survey conducted by the Taipei-based Association of Chinese Elite Leadership.

Additionally, 60 percent said they believe the government should not open Taiwan's doors to Chinese vaccines.

The Taiwan government has made clear that it has no intention of importing Chinese vaccines.

Taiwan Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung has repeatedly stated that Taiwan will not import COVID-19 vaccines manufactured in China, citing a lack of data on their efficacy and safety.
