First OFW Hospital to open soon, medical services also provided to OFW family members


Building of the country's first Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital is expected to be completed before election 2022.

Funding for the establishment and initial operation of the OFW Hospital shall be charged against available appropriations of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The expertise of the government's top medical institution, Philippine General Hospital (PGH), will add quality to the service of the OFW Hospital in San Fernando. Pampanga.

PGH will help the OFW Hospital in the training of clinical and administrative personnel, planning and acquisition of hospital equipment, and formulation of clinical and fiscal process flow.

The Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation, Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Incorporated, and Pampanga provincial government also play major parts in the construction of the 100-bed hospital,

The project is to support OFWs along with the establishment of the Department of Migrant Workers based on the law signed by President Duterte in December.

The hospital, which initially cost P500 million and is located in PEO Compound in Barangay Sindalan in the City of San Fernando, is for all OFWs in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Similar facilities will be built in Visayas and Mindanao.

The hospital, with its 100-bed capacity, is expected to provide medical services to OFWs and their immediate family members.
