Taiwan extends visa free entry of Filipino tourists until July 31, 2026

Taiwan Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung announced a extension of its visa‑free entry program for Filipino passport holders. The new policy should runs from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026, continuing Taiwan’s ranking as the only non‑ASEAN country offering visa‑free entry to Philippine citizens under its New Southbound Policy.

The minister said the extension aims to deepen people-to-people ties and further strengthen bilateral relations.

Under this program, Filipino tourists (with ordinary passports) can visit Taiwan visa‑free for up to 14 days, provided they also bring:

-A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
-Proof of accommodation
-Return or onward tickets
-Sufficient funds for their stay
-Allowed Stay
-Up to 14 days per visit

Taiwan is actively promoting travel from Southeast Asia. In 2024, the Philippines was Taiwan’s source of tourists in Southeast Asia. This move supports Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy—strengthening economic, educational, and cultural ties with Southeast Asian nations.

Taiwan reviews this visa exemption annually. Filipinos were first included in Taiwan’s pilot visa-free scheme in November 2017, allowing them to stay visa-free in Taiwan for at least 14 days.
