Taiwan to open 180,000 caregiver, caretaker jobs in the next 5 Years

Taiwan is opening its doors wide to thousands of caregivers from around Asia. In a recent announcement, the Taiwanese government revealed plans to offer up to 180,000 caregiver jobs over the next five years to address the country’s rapidly aging population and growing demand for elderly care.

This development presents a golden opportunity for job seekers, especially from countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand, where caregiving is a valued profession.

Taiwan is facing one of the fastest aging populations in Asia. By 2025, it's estimated that 1 in 5 Taiwanese will be aged 65 or older. With smaller family sizes and more seniors living alone, there's an urgent need for professional caregivers both in homes and long-term care institutions.

Caregivers from approved countries can apply through official recruitment channels or licensed agencies.

Applicants must:

- Be physically and mentally fit

- Pass medical and background checks

- Often have prior experience or caregiving training

- May need to undergo basic Mandarin or Taiwanese culture orientation

Always apply through licensed recruitment agencies. Be wary of illegal recruiters promising "instant" jobs or charging high fees. Taiwan has strict labor laws, and it's crucial to protect your rights as a worker.

Recruitment agencies are also prohibited from collecting placement fees and other charges from caregiver applicants.
