Taipei Police arrested 52 people after they busted an international sex trafficking ring

52 people, including 36 foreign nationals, were arrested in the operation of Taipei police.

The suspects include ten Taiwanese organizers of the ring and 42 sex workers
who are from Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Taiwan.

Police also seized account books and other evidence in the raid.

The 10 Taiwanese suspects have been handed over to the Taipei district
prosecutors' office for investigation, while the foreign sex workers are being held in detention by immigration authorities, pending deportation based on the findings of the probe.

According to police, the foreign sex workers had entered Taiwan on tourist visas and were inhumanely exploited by the sex trafficking ring.

The accused sex traffickers lured women from foreign countries with offers of work at massage and beauty parlors but coerced them into prostitution upon arrival.
