Taipei MRT to operate for 42 hours straight this New Year; surplus of visitors expected


Taipei Rapid Transit Corp (TRTC) announced that Taipei's MRT system will run continuously for 42 hours straight from Dec 31 to Jan 1, reported by Central News Agency.


The continues running of the Taipei MRT os to provide convenience for people celebrating the start of the new year. Expect surplus of visitors from local to tourists to flock to Taipei and celebrate the New Year.

The MRT will start operating from 6 a.m. on New Year's Eve and continue until midnight on New Year's Day. Meanwhile, Xiaobitan and Xinbeitou stations are exceptions.


TRTC mentioned Taipei City Hall and the Taipei 101/World Trade Center stations have the largest chunk of visitors during the New Years eve.

Additionally, personal bicycles will be allowed on the MRT from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. but YouBike bicycle rental services will be suspended starting 5pm in control areas around Taipei City Hall.
