Explore the bright lights of 2020 Yuejin Lantern Festival in Taiwan's Tainan


The 2020 Yuejin Lantern Festival in Tainan features more than 50 light installations created by local and foreign artists in the city’s Yanshuei District and will last until February 16, 2020.


The annual festival is taking place around Yuejin Harbor, which was one of the nation’s largest trading hubs during the Qing Dynasty, the Tainan Cultural Affairs Bureau said. 

The festival has the theme of “mirage,” the festival showcases installment art lantern pieces

Works by colleges and universities in Taiwan and works by artists from Japan, the Netherlands, and Switzerland are included.


Hand puppet shows and movies at Yongcheng Theater, display of daffodil sculpture works on Qiaonan Old Street, and colorful flowers along Xinyi Road have made the small town even more attractive.

The lanterns lighting starts at 5:30pm up to 11pm, food stalls are also available around the area. 

How to get there?
Take train to Xinying Railway Station. Transfer to the festival by Brown line bus 1, 2 or 3. Get off at Ciaonan Old Street, Yanshui Stop to reach the festival.
