Taiwan closing in to target of 13-million surgical mask production per day comes April


Taiwan to reach its target to have 13 million surgical masks per day starting April according to Vice Minister of Economic Affairs (MOFA) Lin Chuan-neng.


The target is to meet the increasing demand of surgical mask to fight spread of novel coronavirus or COVID-19.

Taiwan succeeds in producing 12.6 million per day on weekdays last week, Taiwan will see its mask production further increase to 13 million. The average daily output is expected to officially reach 13 million masks in early April.

The 32 new production lines will soon begin its full operations. Taiwan now has a total of 92 production line of surgical face mask production.


Meanwhile, Taiwan and the U.S. step up their cooperation on the development of drugs and vaccines to battle the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), Taiwan has pledged to donate 100,000 face masks per week to the U.S., while the U.S. will send to Taiwan 300,000 hazmat suits, Taiwan News reported.

On Monday, the number of COVID-19 infections across Taiwan rose to 195, including 26 new cases and two fatalities.
