INC agrees to convert Philippine Arena as quarantine facility for COVID-19

The enormous Philippine Arena in Bulacan owned by Inglesia ni Cristo (INC) is set to be a quarantine facility for possible carriers of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) according  to the  Bases Conversion and Development Authorities  (BCDA) on Friday.

Vince Dizon, BCDA president, said during the Laging Handa Briefing, the religious sect has agreed to transform the arena into a mega-quarantine facility in Central Luzon.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa INC, sa kapatiran, pumayag na po sila, in-offer nilang gamitin ang Philippine Arena para mag-serve sa Bulacan at sa Region 3,” Dizon said.

Dizon added that the government is now constructing isolation rooms and sealed nurse stations in the Philippine Arena and other sports stadium which will house suspected COVID-19 patients.

Earlier, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases asserted that the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay and the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila will also be converted as treatment and health monitoring facilities to help contain the virus.
