As a present for her recently celebrated 100th birthday, a woman from Tacurong City received a total of PHP200,000 in cash assistance from their local government and Department of Social welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday (December 1).
The cash gift of over PHP100,000 was personally handed by Tacurong Mayor Angelo Montilla to lola Soledad Nono Libo-on during ceremonies honoring the centenarian at the city gymnasium.
According to Montilla, the cash gift from the city government was an additional incentive to what the national government has given her through the DSWD.
Libo-on, whose birthday is on Nov. 28, 1920, said that she would allot part of the money to buy her 58-year-old son Rodrigo a tricycle.
“Here’s a centenarian who, in her twilight years, still looks after the welfare of her children,” said Montilla.
