Sunog sa bahagi ng PGH, apektado ang nursery room para sa mga newborn babies


Sumiklab ang sunog sa ikatlong palapag ng pay ward ng government-run na Philippine General Hospital sa Maynila pasado hatinggabi ng Linggo.


Pandamantalang inilipat ang mga newborn babies to Sta. Ana Hospital. 12 newborn babies mula sa UP-PGH's Neonatal ICU (NICU) ang agarang inilipat doon.


Nasunog ang parte ng ikatlong palapag ng ospital na may mga operating rooms, nagsimula ang sunog sa linen area ng operating room kaya mabilis din kumalat ayon sa Manila Fire Department.


“It was contained within the area but thick smoke soon engulfed the adjoining floors and diffused into the pavilions. Fire was declared out at 5:41 a.m," ayon kay PGH Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi.


No major OR equipment was damaged. Yet we have to assess the autoclave machines. A large volume of OR supplies was lost though. We are closing the Emergency Room and OR for now. We will assess the need to transfer patients,” dagdag ni Legaspi.


Nasa 80 to 90 porsyento ng mga pasyente ay inilikas, kabilang ang mga COVID-19 patients, ayon sa Bureau of Fire Protection.


Umapela ng tulong ang PGH sa publiko matapos ang sunog. Nangangailangan ito ng industrial fans at oxygen tanks at tumatanggap ng in-kind at cash donations.
