Panibagong prangkisa para sa ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation ang inihain ng Makabayan bloc sa Kongreso sa pagbubukas ng 19th Congress.
Layon ng House Bill No. 1218 na mabigyan muli ang Kapamilya Network ng 25-year fresh franchise.
Inihain ito nina ACT Teachers Party List Representative France Castro, Gabriela Party List Representative Arlene Brosas, at Kabataan Party List Representative Raoul Danniel Manuel.
Nakalagay sa dulo ng explanatory note ng bill na hamon nila ito sa Kongreso “to defy the rising tyranny, to stand for freedom and democracy. Thus, urgent passage of this bill is sought.”
Ipinag-utos ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) noong May 5, 2020 ang agarang pagtigil sa lahat ng broadcast operations ng ABS-CBN matapos mapaso ang kanilang 25-year franchise.
Sa inilabas na Cease and Desist Order ng NTC laban sa istasyon, sinabi ng komisyon na hindi na maaaring magsahimpapawid ng network, pati na ang mga TV at radio stations nito sa mga probinsiya.
