20% discount on card users of Taipei MRT removed, sets new scheme for monthly offer


The Taipei Mass Transit (MRT) system of Taiwan is set to launch a new fare scheme starting February 1 which now favorable to frequent users of the MRT.


The 20% discount for electronic card users of the MRT will be removed and will be change to monthly based discounts.

Passengers who ride the MRT 51 times or more per month, will receive a 30 percent discount. It will be the biggest discount for those you use MRT daily.

Those who ride between 41 and 50 times per month will be eligible for a 25 percent discount. A discount of 20 percent for 31 to 40 rides per month, 15 percent for 21 to 30 trips, and 10 percent for 11 to 20 journeys.

The discounts are applicable to four types of electronic cards, including EasyCard, iPASS, icash2.0 and HappyCash.
