Filipino in Singapore tested positive for coronavirus, DFA confirmed


A Filipino in Singapore has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), it is the first confirmed case involving a Filipino in the country, the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed.


The Filipino is in isolation in Singapore's National Centre for Infectious Diseases, citing the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore, DFA said.

DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay said the Philippine Embassy in Singapore said a Filipino tested positive for the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID 19) and is now in isolation.


"This is first confirmed case involving a Filipino in SG," Dulay said. 

"[Singapore] health officials to monitor the condition and well-being of our kababayan," said DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay on Twitter.

The DFA did not give further details. As of Friday, Singapore had at least 86 confirmed cases.
